Senior Fun Day
Each year, every class of Academy Seniors look forward to their final day at AHN, which includes the long-awaited senior prank day. In past years, seniors were given the opportunity to decorate the school to a class-chosen theme while spraying underclassman with water guns. After recent escalation and controversy over the day, administration has made the decision to start a new tradition this year, now known as Senior Fun Day. The administration concluded that the last day of school should embody Academy’s principles of sisterhood and togetherness that the class has worked four hard years to develop.
Senior and Class president Caroline Lamoutte stated, “Even though I was disappointed about not being able to have a senior prank day like other classes have had in the past, I was exited about that fact that we could start a new tradition in which embodies the spirit of the Academy sisterhood.”
Prior to the official start of Senior fun day, the festivities began the day before with a self defense class. Seniors were given the opportunity to learn defensive skills, an important thing to know while living on a college campus.
Senior Jackie Joyce claims, “At first I was skeptical of the whole class, but now I’m so glad that we were given the chance to learn these skills. I personally believe every girl should know how to properly defend herself if put in a dangerous situation.”
The following morning, seniors began their day bright and early at 4:30 A.M. on the Academy lawn. Even though the official senior prank day was cancelled, the class was determined to accomplish at least one last antic before before beginning their last day.
Like previous year’s pranks, Seniors were required to clean up after.
Senior Isabella Alfonso claims, “Even though our was later ruined by rain and a mess to clean up, I’m still glad we did it and it’s something I’ll remember forever!”
Faculty and staff had planed the Senior Fun Day’s activities to include a bouncy house on the front lawn, however the weather had other plans. Rainy weather may have caused the cancellation of the bouncy house, but the Seniors were determined to maintain the fun of their day. Faculty allowed the class to play games, dance, and jump rope in the gym as an alternative.
Seniors were then gathered in the senior lounge for the last time to prepare for the bittersweet tradition of running from the fourth floor to the pool.

Junior Haley Schumann claims, “One of my favorite parts about the end is seeing the seniors run down the halls for the last time because I cannot even imagine how exhausting all of that running is! It’s also so heartwarming to see how much the seniors cherish this tradition, because you can see on their faces how much they have loved their time here at the Academy and how sad they are to leave.”
Lastly, Seniors ended their last few hours of school with the traditional celebratory pool party.
