Teachers vs Students: The Last Month of School
The school year is wrapping up in less than a month and mixed reactions are coming from both the teachers and students. It is revealed, though, that teachers and students aren’t too different after all.
Teachers:
How do you feel about the last month of school?
Ms. Filocco: “It’s very hectic because both teachers and students want to cram a lot of work into one month of school.”
Ms. Mikos: “I am exhausted!”
Mrs. Pendleton: “I think it’s bittersweet. It’s been interesting year being new to Academy. I loved this class so it’s sad saying goodbye.”
What will you miss most about this year?
Ms. Mikos: “Definitely the seniors.”
Mrs. Pendleton: Everyone’s very unique personalities.”
Have you been counting down the days till the school year is over?
Ms. Mikos: “I have not, but I’ve had to plan the days out so I guess that counts.”
Mrs. Pendleton: “No. Not at all.”
What will you miss least about this year?
Ms. Mikos: “Grading tests.”
Mrs. Pendleton: “Grading essays.”
What are you looking forward to?
Mrs. Pendleton: “The beach, summer, hanging out with my kids.”
Do you have any advice for incoming Seniors/Juniors/Sophomores/Freshmen?
Ms. Mikos: Incoming Seniors- “Try not to get senioritis too early. Do all of your work.”
Mrs. Pendleton: All- “Don’t procrastinate. Stay organized. Ask questions.”
Students:
How do you feel about the last month of school?
Kristina Kennedy: “It is kind of sad to realize that after this month most things will be a different. It is definitely bittersweet to have to leave a place where I feel at home.”
Julia DiFabrizio: “I am feeling very stressed and anxious about school work, exams, graduation, and college.”
Domenica Howard: “The last month is kind of just a recap about things you learned at the beginning of the semester.”
Julia Lester: “I feel stressed and sad. Its an emotional month!”
What will you miss most about this year?
Kristina Kennedy: “I’ll miss our class the most because throughout each year we have grown closer and closer.”
Julia DiFabrizio: “I’ll miss lunch in the senior lounge the most because it’s always fun and I’m with all of my sisters. Plus, the dance parties can make anyone’s day a thousand times better.”
Kendal Lewis: “My friends.”
Domenica Howard: “I will miss the junior locker room and being an upperclassman.”
Julia Lester: “ I will miss all of my friends so much and giving a high five to Sloshy every day.”
Have you been counting down the days till the school year is over?
Kristina Kennedy: “Somewhat, I think my mom is keeping better track of the days than I am.”
Julia Fabrizio: “I refuse to count down the days left in the school year because it gives me anxiety knowing that I have such a little amount of time to do so much.”
Mimi Kamm: “No, I don’t have the effort to.”
Kendal Lewis: “YES.”
Domenica Howard: “I haven’t personally been counting for exactness, but I look at the board outside Mrs. K’s office and either smile or cringe.”
What will you miss least about this year?
Kristina Kennedy: “I will not miss having to wake up super early to come to school each morning.”
Julia DiFabrizio: “I won’t miss worrying about college applications.”
Kendal Lewis: “Homework.”
Domenica Howard: “I will not miss the homework and stress of junior year.”
Julia Lester: “The thing I will miss least about this year is walking from the parking garage all the way to the fourth floor.”
What are you looking forward to?
Kristina Kennedy: “I’m looking forward to gaining some independence because even though we are seniors, we are still pretty restricted.”
Julia DiFabrizio: “I am looking forward to having more time and flexibility in my schedule to fit in the things I want to.”
Kendal Lewis: “The two weeks of summer I can get before I go to college.”
Domenica Howard: “I am looking forward to moving on with my life and going to college, fun lunch parties in the senior lounge, graduation and grad bash, senior retreat and everything about senior year.”
Julia Lester: “I am looking forward to starting the next chapter of my life in college and meeting all my new teammates at UF.”
Do you have any advice for incoming Seniors/Juniors/Sophomores/Freshmen?
Bryanna LaRussa: Incoming Seniors- “Don’t take too many APs your senior year. You’re going to regret it.”
Mimi Kamm: All- “I have learned to put everything away at 10 P.M. and forget about school.”
Kendal Lewis: Incoming Seniors- “Don’t stress about college because it will work out the way it’s supposed to. Also, deferral is not denial.”
With the conclusion of the school year, Seniors say goodbye to high school, underclassmen prepare for more responsibility, and teachers prepare for another year. Let the “end of an journey” songs begin.
