As the seasons change and the world around us shifts and moves on to summer, the Achona Newspaper is ready with summer movie recommendations. Cool down after your pool days, picnics, or beach adventures by relaxing in a cool, dark theater: watching movies!

Heading into summer, here are the top 10 movies that will be coming out these following months:

Barbie

It’s official! Barbie is making it’s way into the theaters, but what’s even more is that it is the live action version! Barbie Mattel debuted in 1959, adored by millions of little girls through the decades. Join Barbie for a whirlwind ride around her hometown in Malibu; even if you’re not a fan, you don’t want to miss out on watching Barbie as a cultural icon in theaters this summer, July 21.

Fast X

Fast and Furious is coming back to theaters again, this time with a tenth movie. The movie will have many renowned actors and actresses making their cameos in the film, where they will have to outdrive many of their adversaries. Surely, this popular franchise will not come to an end soon. 

Joy Ride

The 2023 film Joy Ride features Ashley Park, who stars in the famous television show Emily In Paris, as she takes viewers through the her failed business trip in Asia. Audrey (Ashely Park) takes the audience through the bonds between her friends and family members as they face testing moments in their trip through Asia. The film is set to premiere in theaters July 7.

Mission Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One

Mission Impossible is coming yet again with many more adventures and almost impossible and dating missions to take on. Ethan will, yet again, be the middle ground in protecting humanity from the corruption and evil of a new weapon that has been created. The first part of this film will be released on July 12 in theaters. 

 

The Little Mermaid

The Disney enterprise has taken the hearts of many young fans, and they have been recently “revamping” so to speak, their prominent original films. Disney revamps The Little Mermaid this summer into a live action movie! With the film, there have been many controversies circling around, particularly with the film not following the original animated version’s look. Even through all the controversies, this film will surely keep little ones occupied and entertained during the summer! The film is set to release in theaters May 26.

The Flash

The Flash, a famously known marvel character, is set to premiere June 16. The superhero Flash enters into the complex realm of time travel, where he tries to save humanity from their mistakes in the past. The film will show the differentiating realities as the Flash travels back in time, ultimately interfering with the future. Early positive critical reviews agree: The Flash is following through with its debut as being “one of the best multiverse movies out there.” The film has also been receiving very positive feedback from its first viewers, but will this trend continue once the movie is publicly released?

Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Fans have been waiting for the film to come out for ages! The film comes out heading from the unfortunate news of Tony Starks death back in The Endgame. The band does not seem to be entirely united, with Gamora having come back from the dead, living in a strained relationship with Peter Quill. In the film, they will have to face adversaries together and stronger. It will be in theaters May 5.

Ladybug and Cat Noir: The Movie

The Netflix show Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir is set on premiering its movie on July 5. Many fans have been waiting earnestly for a glimpse into the movie. The film is all about a set of superhero partners: Marinette, as Ladybug, who is a bit clumsy and quiet, and Adrien, as Cat Noir, who is a dashing young model who is deeply beloved by many of his fans (including Marinette) but also greatly set aside by his father (who plays Hawk Moth).

Meg 2: The Trench

The Trench is set around a group of researchers who end up in massive peril as they try and survive from these massive prehistoric sharks they embark in their adventure. Will their operation come to an end to the mouths of these feisty predators, or will they be able to stay afloat and run against Mother Nature? There is only one way to find out: come to the theaters and be on the lookout for the film August 4.

Oppenheimer

History buffs are excited with Oppenheimer set to be released July 21, the film will lay out the story of Physicist J Robert Oppenheimer as he works with a group of scientists for the Manhattan Project. Little did they know that their project would lead up to the creation of the atomic bomb.
