“The Exorcist: Believer” takes its audience on a journey into the supernatural, blending elements of psychological horror with heart-stopping thrills. When the daughter, Angela, and her friend Katherine, show signs of demonic possession, it forces single father Victor to deal with the evil. Terrified, he reaches out to Chris MacNeil, the only person alive who’s witnessed anything like it before.
Personally, I thought the movie was ok. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but I wasn’t the biggest fan. I was a little shocked in the beginning. Did that lady really spit on the pregnant woman’s feet? At times, it truly was the same old, same old. The plot was almost predictable: someone does something they shouldn’t, they get possessed, no one believes it until it’s too late, and then they perform an exorcism at the end of the movie. Although predictable, I did enjoy watching it. These types of horror movies are like cheesy romcoms in the romance genre.
In conclusion, “Believer” does add new life to the Exorcist franchise, delivering a spine-chilling experience that will carry on with fans of the genre. The jump scares were good and got many people. It was a fun horror movie, kinda like the one where you laugh at the jump scares and not get nightmares. Overall, it’s an okay movie. I wish they had done more with it but I was pleased with what they worked with. The beginning really had me questioning where the story was going to go. It was well-made but not anything fresh. We will see what “The Exorcist: Deceiver” has planned waiting for us in 2025.
