Grad Bash 2011: ‘The beginning of the end…’

Grad Bash 2011 began with great excitement as Academy seniors loaded two busses at 4:30 pm,  on Friday, April 15,  bound for the 7 pm park opening of Universal Studios. Accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Odell Swafford, Mr. and Mrs. Robbie Pardue and Ms. Judy Perella, the class of 2011 embarked on what many girls viewed as “the beginning of the end.”

Academy girls instantly made an impression upon Universal Studio staff members and fellow Grad Bash attendees with their fresh, spring attire and impressive school spirit and excitement.  AHN’s well-dressed girls also drew the attention of the mixed-gender population. One girl asked, “Do you, like, live [at Academy]?” to which senior Tess McDermott sarcastically responded, “Yes, like Hogwarts.”

Although the wait times for attractions were, on average, about 90 minutes, the park provided entertainment such as dance parties and a series of concerts.

Seniors Margaux Perez, Kindle Boje, and Christiana Torres thoroughly enjoyed DJ Khaled’s hit “So Hood” among many other of his songs.

Another “hot spot” for the ladies of 2011 was the magical Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Potter fans indulged in the eerie likeness of Hogsmede, “adopted” Pygmy Puffs, and enjoyed a cold Butterbeer.

Grad Bash was an altogether magical experience. The greatly anticipated and stressed-over event truly marked the beginning of the upcoming lunches, ceremonies, and masses that prepare us for the bittersweet day that seniors have had marked on their calendars since junior year.
