Summer is just around the corner. Leaving behind the end of the school year and exams, it’s the time to relax and have fun. You don’t have to leave the Tampa Bay area to explore new places and have new experiences. The summer fun list below includes ideas ranging from restaurants to a lagoon all within a short drive.
Elev8 Fun: This “entertainment center” is the perfect place for all-around fun. Elev8 Fun offers an arcade, bowling, go-karts, laser tag, mini golf, axe throwing, a ropes course, and a VR arena. Elev8 Fun will open soon in the Citrus Park Mall.
Boba and Berry: Boba and Berry offers a wide range of flavors of fruit and milk teas with a variety of mix-ins to choose from to create the perfect custom boba. Boba and Berry recently added mochi, a soft rice-based dessert with a chewy outside and an ice cream filling. They also offer delicious acai bowls. A personal favorite is the Blueberry Muffin Boba with tapioca pearls.

Color Me Mine: This store located in Hyde Park is the perfect place to meet up with friends and go paint pottery. Color Me Mine has a wide variety of pieces to paint in your own unique way. After you have finished painting your piece, leave it with the store to fire in the kiln and pick it up at a later date when it’s finally finished.

Epperson Lagoon: Epperson Lagoon, located in Wesley Chapel, is a 7-acre water park that features a 30 ft water slide, a floating obstacle course, kayaks, paddleboards, and more. On a hot summer day, this is the perfect place to cool down and have fun. Don’t forget your sunscreen!

Straz Center: Over the summer, try taking in a show at the Straz Center. Many theatrical, dance, and musical performances are put on at the Straz. A very popular upcoming show is Annie (June 6-11). Come support these talented actors at the Straz!
Sunken Gardens: St.Pete’s oldest living museum, the Sunken Gardens is a botanical garden that boasts some of the oldest plants in Florida. Go to the Sunken Gardens to see the beautiful tropical flowers and plants along with waterfalls and flocks of flamingos.

Oh Yeah Creamery: Oh Yeah Creamery holds the title of Tampa’s first “create your own craft soft serve”. This unique ice cream shop has a plethora of mix-ins to add into your ice cream base in order to make your own custom sundae. Achona staffers are eager to try these treats this summer. Cooking classes at Sur La Table: Sur La Table in Hyde Park offers week-long cooking and baking camps over the summer. During the teen series camps, learn new cooking techniques and recipes. A bonus is that you can bring home what you have made each day. For those over 17, explore some of the adult cooking classes. An insider tip: The French macaron class might just yield about 2 dozen of these scrumptious treats to bring home to share with your family and friends.
Ruskin Family Drive-In movies: This Ruskin Family Drive-In movie theater is keeping the 50’s tradition alive with its old-fashioned theater experience. The Ruskin Drive-In has coined the title “the Last Family Drive-In”. However, Ruskin does not only play old-fashioned films but also some of the most recent releases such as the new The Little Mermaid, which opened May 26.
