Easter Mass recognizes four significant Academy milestones

After returning from a restful Easter vacation, the Academy community celebrated four significant milestones during the traditional all-school Easter Mass on Monday, April 16.

This Mass day fell on the day of 50th Jubilee anniversaries of Sister Ann Regan and Sister Elizabeth Crean, SNJM, and the 60th Jubilee  for Sister Lillian Schneider, SNJM.

Mr. Arthur Raimo, School President, welcomed the students, faculty, and family members by emphasizing the importance of this incredible milestone in the three sisters’ devotion to Jesus.  “Without the sisters, there would be no Academy. We know what a great history and tradition of service they have provided to us.”

Mr. Raimo’s praise also included the students. He congratulated fellow sports teams on their immense successes and valued their representation of the Academy both on and off the field.  He added the school’s appreciation for the eighth graders and seniors for their leadership and scholarship , noting that the day celebrated  the last all-school Mass that the boys and the seniors would be part of the entire school community, grades K-12.

Furthermore, Mr. Raimo acknowledged senior Cavesha Anderson’s momentous step in her faith with her baptism  that morning before school in the chapel surrounded by adminstration, faculty, family, and senior classmates. She also went on to receive her First Holy Communion at the Easter celebration Mass.

Father Tom Morgan of St. Lawrence Parish presided over the Mass underlining the need to embrace the example of the Sisters of the Holy Names into our everyday lives, even when it seems difficult, as with challenges come great changes in our own lives and the lives of others through the faith bestowed upon us as a gift to spread among all.
