Blueberries are a healthy, quick snack that are yummy and beneficial!

Did you know that consuming healthy foods enhances not only your mental awareness but can also have a significant effect on your academic performance? Indeed, it can! Eating specific foods can improve ones ability to focus, can help better retain information and remain mentally alert. Students should select brain food that fill their belly and their mind in order to achieve better grades.

Want better test scores? Eat better foods! Studies have proven that certain foods have a positive influence in aiding brain flow and activity. Foods such as berries, nuts, dark chocolates, apples and fish enable students to attain higher test scores due to its excess amount of health benefits.

Berries are shown to enhance neural activity due to the amount of antioxidants and phytonutrients they contain. Berries such as cherries, blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, blackberries and even grapes have direct health benefits to brain function. In order to increase the amount of work one accomplishes, berries are a great enabler to stay on task and help get work done!

Still want to know how to study better? Go nuts! Nuts are a great sources of the antioxidant Vitamin E and contain a good amount of iron which provides oxygen to the brain. Dark chocolate contains caffeine which enhances your ability to focus. Eating just an ounce a day of nuts and dark chocolate allows the body to receive all the health benefits without the excess calories, sugars and fats.

Not only does an apple a day keep the doctor away, it also can improve one’s study habits and academic performance! Apples contain a powerful antioxidant called quercetin which enhances memory function. Because this fruit acts as a catalyst to memory function, studying for tests and quizzes will come easier and quicker!

In order to achieve that perfect report card, one must love what they learn and love what they eat. Eating healthy foods/snacks is one of the greatest ways to improve your grades and study habits. When studying, always remember to reach for the apples, not the cookies!
