“Usually I am informed about current events through social media, mostly snapchat and instagram. Sometimes I see things pop up on the internet throughout the day,” says Dayzha Cartwright (‘19).

From November 28 to November 30, Achona conducted a poll to find how and where Academy students receive news. The anonymous survey consisted of 128 students. All who participated ranged from freshmen to seniors.

Junior Isabela Mocsari says, “I get my news from NBC nightly news with Lester Holt. I think it’s a reliable source.”

Junior Joely Barkett utilizes social media for her news. She says, “I think that social media is a great tool that gets current events out to students and the younger population in general. Things like Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram are easily accessible and already have news ready to read on their platforms. Plus, most of us are already on social media most of the time anyways.”
