Competitive and ready to row

The Jaguar Crew Team is prepared to conquer the water this spring season. Even with predominantly inexperienced and young rowers, coaches and veterans of the team hope for a successful season.

The remaining five seniors intend to lead underclassmen in the ropes and ways of the water. Rain or shine, the girls practice six days a week with their five coaches, including alumna Taylor DeMesa. Coach Taylor DeMesa was on the crew team during her time at Academy and now rows for the University of Tampa Spartans.

Recently, the team participated in the Novice regatta and is now preparing for their next regatta in March. The squad has a lot of talent and a competitive edge that will benefit them in their future regattas.

Senior Madison Allen is an experienced veteran who has been on the team for four years and knows that success on the water is closely in reach. “I have high hopes for the team this year. I believe we have a lot of talent and competitiveness that will lead us to success out on the water.”
