This 2024 season, AHN’s fall sports teams brought their all, showing resilience, skill, and team spirit. Here’s a look at how the teams performed and what’s next on their horizons:

Flag Football:

AHN’s high school club flag football team capped off an incredible inaugural season by earning the title of RISE Flag Football’s Independent Flag Football League champions. The team finished with an impressive 5-2 record and secured victory in the championship game last Thursday, defeating Berkeley Prep 13-6. Congratulations to our dedicated players and coaching staff on an extraordinary start to this new program.

Swim and Dive:

AHN’s swim and dive team finished their regular season undefeated. Now, the team is gearing up for the state series, aiming for a historic third consecutive state title after their victories in 2022 and 2023. The team will compete in districts on Saturday, November 2, at home and then proceed to regionals and states to defend their title. With a strong roster and committed coaches, AHN Swim and Dive is ready to make history again.

Crew:

AHN’s crew team recently made waves at the Halloween regatta, bringing home several medals despite challenges from recent storms that impacted both practice days and their boats. Seniors Jada James and Lena Graham took first place in their pair, while junior Gaby Cossi claimed third in her single. The junior eight placed third, and the first and second varsity eight boats achieved fifth place. Though the results were slightly below the team’s usual performance, the team’s solid performances and resilience amidst the season’s setbacks demonstrate their dedication and competitive spirit. The AHN crew team is looking forward to the rest of the season.

Golf:

AHN’s golf team has had an impressive season, showing skill and character. In September, they competed at the Crutchfield/Hawkins Invitational in Sebring, where sophomore Jia Bryant clinched 1st place with a stellar score of 72. Senior Gabrielle Marquez received the Tom McClurg Character Award. The team also hosted a heartfelt senior night for Grace Andrews and Gabrielle Marquez, honoring their contributions to the team. This past Monday, the team triumphed at the district tournament, placing first overall, with juniors Luci Ospina and Maddie Fox tying for the tournament low of 78. With Regionals coming up on Monday, November 4, and States following on November 14-16, the team is ready to finish strong in what has already been a standout season.

Volleyball:

AHN’s volleyball team had an exciting season, showcasing strong teamwork and a competitive spirit. This season, the team performed impressively at the AHN tournament, where they secured second place. Senior night brought another victory, celebrating the seniors with an unforgettable win. The team’s determination carried them to the regional level of the post-season, where they faced off against Kings Academy. Highlights of the season included a third-place finish at the Swing for the Cure tournament in Orlando and Spike Splash, which created unforgettable memories for both players and fans.

Cross Country:

AHN’s cross country team showed remarkable resilience this season, bouncing back stronger after setbacks from Hurricanes Helene and Milton that caused several meet cancellations. At the River Ridge Invite, many team members achieved personal records, and the team secured an impressive 2nd-place finish. They continued their momentum at Districts, finishing 4th and advancing to Regionals this Thursday. Highlights of the season included the team-building scavenger hunt, “bigs and littles” reveal—an exciting new tradition for the team—and a bittersweet Senior Night filled with heartfelt speeches and thoughtful gifts. Despite the challenges, the team’s unity and determination led to an unforgettable season.
