The Super Bowl serves as an important event for media consumption, patriotism, and celebrations. With one game, two amazing teams, and an entire crowd, the Super Bowl never fails to go unnoticed. With chatter in the halls, text in group chats, and differing opinions, this years Super Bowl is one that stands out.

The Super Bowl LX is Sunday February 8, 2026. The two teams against each other are the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. It will be held at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Academy girls have stayed to date throughout the whole football season and know exactly who they hope to see win on Sunday. There are mixed emotions and differing opinions on who should win and who should not.

Addyson Moad (26’) said, “I am hoping that the Seahawks win Superbowl LX. I have family in Seattle and have always been a fan of the Seahawks. I cannot wait to see who wins next week.”

The people around influence a person’s support in the team that they hope to win. It would make sense for family in a different town to lead to support for a certain team. Moad is a perfect example with her family waiting for the Seahawks to win another Super Bowl since their last win in 2014. People root for the teams they want based on many differing conditions. Some choose to root for a certain team because of loyalty. Staying loyal to the team you love at heart is true dedication, even if they will not win. Another condition would be betting. Sports betting has become very popular throughout the recent years. With this betting it causes a drive and increase in entertainment purposes and viewing.

Ainsley Kurrack (26’) said, “I want the Patriots to win the Super Bowl. I think that they did well all year and deserve to win. Even though most people do not want them to win because they used to always, I still hope they win.

This is the Patriots twelfth Super Bowl, with six being wins and six being loses. The last time the Patriots have won was Super Bowl LIII, in 2019. Since then the Patriots have gained new players and lost old ones. They have also gotten a new coach back in 2025, Mike Vrabel. With these new changes it will be interesting to see how they perform on Sunday.

Lila Biller (27’) said, “This year I am hoping that the Seahawks win. I think they did very well this year and it has been a while since they have even been to a Super Bowl, so I am hoping for the best for them. Especially after the game on Sunday, the Seahawks deserve to win.”

The Seahawks have been to the Super Bowl all of three times, and this year they are making their fourth appearance. The first and only Super Bowl win of the Seahawks was in 2014, Super Bowl XLVIII, against the Denver Broncos.

Some teams like the Kansas City Chief cause distaste for the super Bowl. The Chiefs, have appeared in seven Super Bowls and have won four of these games. A major reason as to why people have not been rooting for the Chiefs is because of their reoccurrence multiple times. People get upset when things stay the same and reoccurrence occurs, even if the team is good and deserves their spot. Another reason as to a distaste for the Chiefs is because of their high-profile plays associated with other high-profile celebrates. An example of this would Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. People always have differing opinions and take it out on certain people. For this team, these two have been a main distraction and cover page of multiple sources.

This coming Sunday the Patriots and Seahawks face each other to victory. An article from The New York Times, written by Jeff Howe and Austin Mock states that, “The Patriots have six Super Bowl victories, and the Seahawks have one. Seattle is a 5-point favorite on BetMGM to win Super Bowl LX.”
