On Friday, November 8, the senior class of the Academy of the Holy Names participated in a cherished tradition—the Senior Day of Recollection hosted by DaySpring Episcopal Conference Center. This special day was dedicated to reflection, connection, and faith, giving the seniors a chance to pause, reflect on their high school journey, and bond over shared memories as they prepared for graduation. The experience offered them an opportunity to slow down and recognize the guidance of God in their lives, fostering a sense of hope and purpose for the future.
The day began with a beautiful Mass that set a serene and sacred tone, encouraging students to deepen their spiritual connection and reflect on their shared experiences. After Mass, the seniors created vision boards for their future lives, an activity that invited them to visualize and share their aspirations, hopes, and dreams. This creative exercise sparked meaningful conversations and strengthened bonds as students shared personal stories and their goals for what lies ahead.
The retreat also included bonding games that tested their trust and reliance on one another. Activities such as leading each other while blindfolded and a ropes course brought moments of laughter and trust, reinforcing the unity of the class. These activities embodied the message of Ephesians 4:1-6: “I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Gracen Buffa (’25) said, “The games were so much fun and really brought us closer together. We laughed, trusted each other, and made memories that reminded us of the strong sisterhood we share.”
These experiences reminded the seniors of their powerful sisterhood and how they had built up the “Body of Christ” within their class, extending that unity to younger students at AHN. By the end of the day, the seniors left DaySpring with renewed faith, deeper connections, and the understanding that they are an integral part of the AHN legacy, ready to carry forward the values of community, love, and support into their next few months as a senior class.
