With prom quickly approaching,  junior and senior girls have begun their search for the perfect dress.  Inspired by runways and award ceremonies, Academy girls will make their own news at this year’s prom on Saturday evening, May 5.

For their first prom experience, juniors find time in their important academic goals for college to plan and shop for the perfect outfit to mark this important milestone. Already many girls have already found their perfect dresses for the dance. So far the trend for Academy girls is classy with long formal dresses for prom. However, a handful of girls will be showing off elegant, shorter dresses with grace and style.

Junior Amanda Schifino, who has spent more time this spring on the tennis court than the dance floor, plans to follow Academy tradition for the prom.  “I decided to wear long mostly because I never get the chance to wear formals.”

Floor-length dresses offer many different styles, including this season the “long and flowy” look.  In particular,  the long dress with a flowy bottom creates a fluid look that flatters any figure type.  Fashion details lean toward simple but classic strapless, one shoulder, and strappy styles.

Another important trait to each dress is color. This year, Academy girls are following the trend to light colors, like white, gold, and pastel colors. Lighter colors offer opportunity for different and bold accessory choices, including jewelry, color accents and traditional corsages that often match or coordinate with your date’s boutonniere.

So many decisions… so little time. But when the evening of May 5 arrives,  each Academy girls will have found just the right dress and settled on the right details to accent her own unique fashion style.
