Advent Wreath lighting begins preparations for Christmas

Despite the pressure of semester exams looming on the horizon, Academy students have the Christmas spirit, as evidenced by a few of the activities below.

  • Members of  Faith Children’s Home Club got a jump on the season when they posted annual angels for the children’s gifts for the yearly Christmas Party, hosted by the club on Tuesday, November 27.
  • Already decorated and ready to celebrate, the sophomore locker room had its Christmas tree up first.  Other rooms and halls throughout the school show festive decorations and signs of the holiday fast approaching.
  • Last weekend the senior class hosted  its Annual Movie on the Lawn on Sunday evening, December 2.
  • Seniors led off the first week of Advent lighting the first candle on the Advent Wreath in the school foyer at 8 am on Monday, December 3. Juniors, sophomores and ninth graders will each take their turns in lighting the wreath and leading the prayers.
  • High school students will receive the sacrament of Reconciliation on Thursday morning, December 6.
  • Quarter Notes will host a Taize Evening Prayer on Sunday evening, December 9, at 7:00 pm in the Blessed Marie Rose Chapel.  The video showcases a Taize Prayer Service held at Mary Help of Christians.
  •  The AHN Music Department will present its Christmas Concert in a student assembly on Monday, December 10.
  • To ring in the Christmas spirit, the Teen Leadership Club will host a middle school Christmas party on Wednesday, December 12, in the Brady Center for sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. Other clubs will host Christmas celebrations during their meetings on either Wednesday, December 5 or 12.
  • Student Council will hold their usual Reindeer Raffle during the week of December 3, and also will be hosting Christmas Formal at MOSI on December 19.
