Not only did it help me learn more about different cultures, but the culture fair allowed me to learn more about my peers. It created a safe environment for students to share elements of themselves that they may not have otherwise, says Sam Cuttle (20).

“Not only did it help me learn more about different cultures, but the culture fair allowed me to learn more about my peers. It created a safe environment for students to share elements of themselves that they may not have otherwise,” says Sam Cuttle (’20).

On Monday, Nov. 4, POWER club (passionate outstanding women encouraging respect) held its second annual culture fair. The event lasted throughout both advisory and lunch with students representing 18 cultures. Each student participating worked alone or in a group to create a poster board presentation, write a one minute speech, and cook traditional cultural food to hand out to their classmates.

Alexa Fredericks (’20) and Anna Reins (’22) acted as the co-chairs for the fair, organizing and planning the event.

The areas participating included: Sweden, Cuba, Columbia, Indonesia, France, Peru, Germany, Canada, Puerto Ricco, Hong Kong, Ireland, Lebanon, Liberia, Spain, Greece, Vietnam, Italy, and Japan.
