Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2016 Season Off to a Promising Start

In their 33 Seasons, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won six Division Titles, one National Football Conference Title, and Super Bowl XXXVII. But, the team has not won a championship game or title since their Super Bowl victory in 2002. This year, the Buccaneers have a chance redeem themselves and are planning on doing exactly this by tackling this season with new coaching staff, new team members, and a clear perspective.

Their first regular 2016 season game was Sunday, September 13 against the Atlanta Falcons. With their 31-24 win during the first game, the Buccaneers are off to a promising start. This is the team’s first season under new Head Coach Dirk Koetter, and Buccaneers fans across the city are anything but disappointed. Coach Koetter claims that this victory, along with the team’s preseason games is “a little, but not all” of what him and Defensive Coordinating Coach Mike Smith have lined up for this season.

Along with new and improved coaching staff, the Buccaneers have introduced ten rookies, along with 43 of the NFL’s seasoned veterans. The standouts from the first game include, but are not limited to, the team’s quarterback, Florida State University alumni and second-year veteran, Jameis Winston, along with rookie cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III. Hargreaves started his NFL football career, by being drafted by the Bucs  for this season, after he graduated from the University of Florida in 2016.

This Sunday, September 18, the team will take on the Arizona Cardinals at their home field in Glendale, Arizona. Although the Cardinals lost their first game of the season, they are considered to be one of the better teams in the league, so this game should be a true test of the Bucs skills and abilities.  The Buccaneers will play their “Home Opener” game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, September 25 at Raymond James Stadium.
