Mother-Daughter Dinner blends laughter and tears

Mother-Daughter Dinner blends laughter and tears

The highpoint of the traditional  Mother-Daughter dinner, held this year on February 25, is the announcement of the Marvelous Mom Award.  The week preceding the dinner features a photo gallery posted on the second floor of Academy mothers from when they were in high school.  Winning the competition this year was  Mrs. Ana Young, mother of senior Margaret and sophomore Catherine Young.

A Student Council event, the  dinner at Rusty Pelican on Rocky Point included photo ops by  Studio Artistry and a slide show during dinner of seniors with their mothers.  Senior parent Ms. Charmine  Vickers commented, “The slideshow was beautiful and almost made me cry.”

The most anticipated feature of the evening,  the video interview with graduating seniors, compiled  by senior Sam Seal,  followed dinner.  The seniors lauded their mothers for their  love and support.  Comments ranged from serious to humorous, bringing tears and laughter.   “This was the best Mother-Daughter ever, ” commented senior Hannah McNamara.

“This was my mom’s  first time at Mother-Daughter, and we had a blast, ” Erin Pluchino said happily.

Also on hand to enjoy dinner with their mothers were faculty members Ms. Maureen Kearney, Mrs. Rebeca Zambrano, and Student Council moderator Mrs. Virginia Van Pelt.
