It’s Fall already? Break out warm and neutral colors to ward off the heat

Surprise! It’s already fall! It’s not easy to tell with the Florida heat still around us and the oppressive sunshine bearing down on us as we make our way to the parking lot in the afternoons.   However,  summer has now officially come to a close on the calendar.

With a change in seasons, will Academy girls adjust to fall wear or hang on to their warm weather garb? What is there in the fashion world to look forward to this season? Keep reading as Academy students reveal their favorite things about fall.

When asked about the new season, Academy girls were a little confused because in Tampa Bay high-school students do not think of fall until the temperature drops. Senior Meagan Gonzalez commented, “I can’t adjust seasons until it is cold enough to wear boots!”

This reaction is not uncommon, for the weather here in Florida continues to bring on the heat. Fellow classmate Amanda Schifino said, “It’s not fall until the weather is at least below 70 degrees and there is not as much humidity.” The girls hoped October will bring cooler temperatures and a feeling of autumn.

When the new season finally does hit with a chill, a neutral pallate is always best. Although unfamiliar to Tampa Bay locals, the changing of leaves up north have inspired warm and neutral colors for this year’s fashion. Fall fashions feature deep greens, pumpkin orange, chocolate brown and deep purples as the favorite combinations this season.

Senior Franchesca Beatty said, “My favorite colors for fall would definitely be browns and a reddish orange. I love being able to incorporate the change of season in my makeup and outfits!”

So what do you think is necessary to prepare for fall? Most Academy girls agreed that scarves, mittens, and hats would be best for outdoors as they are not only fashionable but functional! Freshman Natalie Cevallos loves wearing boots and cozy socks to keep her warm when the weather begins to change.

When she’s not outside in the cool air, Caroline Dolan advised, “Wear a head band of neutral colors! You can keep the feeling of fall inside the building!”  Gonzalez reminded Academy students  that a splash of fall colors to your nails would serve as a subtle yet cute way to keep fall colors around even when the weather is hot and humid.

Overall, Academy students are anxious for a change in the weather and are happy just planning their wardrobe changes for when the Florida heat transforms into dropping temperatures. Schifino said, “I cannot wait to open the Academy doors with my books in one hand and a warm pumpkin latte in the other.”
