Live “Unplugged” returns
December 7, 2021
On December 3, Academy kicked off its annual student directed series with Unplugged. This event is designed to showcase the musical and vocal talents of Academy students. Directed by sophomore Rowan Miller, the night featured 20 student performances, with students singing and providing instrumental accompaniment. The event was hosted virtually last year, but returned to being in-person with a live audience this year.
This event provides a way for students interested in music and vocal performance to serve in unique leadership roles. It also provides students a way to showcase all talents related to music. This even includes songwriting, as the show featured two original, student-written songs — senior Andie Rogas’ “More Than I Can Give,” and Senior Leslie Sanchez’s “The Missing Piece.”
Miller gives out directions to student performers. "Coordinating and organizing people, places, and more was difficult for me, for sure. I had never planned an event to that scale before, and I learned so much about leadership and character," said Miller.
