A Deep Dive into Hands of Hope

Hands of Hope is a service committee led by senior Ava Radovic (’26) that is full of micro clubs for different ways to serve the community. It was created in the fall of 2023 to allow more opportunities for girls to find service and resonate with it.

Radovic (‘26) said, “Throughout elementary and middle school, I loved donating to food drives, buying gifts for angel families, and even caroling at retirement homes. I think it’s so important to intertwine serving the community with holiday celebrations, as it’s embedded in the foundation of giving thanks, celebrating love and laughter, and imitating Christ’s unconditional love for even the most vulnerable.”

Hands of Hope is moderated by Taryn Kendig and Angela Leavens and led by Radovic as President. The purpose of this committee is to raise funds and awareness for five different charities throughout the school year while providing leadership experiences for student committee members to facilitate service opportunities for the entire student body. This committee is not regularly open to all students, but instead composed of student leaders for each organization who will work together to bring service opportunities to the entire student body. Their favorite things they do are holding fundraiser events, bake sales, promote service, and act as a liaison between students and various organizations for service opportunities.

The committees include Kids for Kids, Celebrate Birthdays, Origami Outreach, LAMB, Creative Kids, Letters of Love and Random Acts of Kindness, Karaoke for a Cause, and Stick to Giving. All of these committees allow for a wide variety of opportunities for girls to serve the community.

“It is not just helping one cause, but helping multiple, and it is a very inclusive environment and has everyone’s back and helps each other out, creating its own community,” said advertising coordinator Stella Alvarez (’26).

Some upcoming events include Karaoke for a Cause Christmas Extravaganza, Letters of Love for Veterans, Holly Jolly hosted by Celebrate birthdays, and so many more. Giving back to the community during the holiday season is a way for girls to reflect on the gifts they receive and think about those who are less fortunate.

“Having multiple service opportunities for different causes allows for different girls from all grades to bond over their love for singing or crafts,” said senior Mallory Ryan (’26).

This season of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Veterans Day gives the student body time to give back to their community. It goes unnoticed how fortunate we are to receive gifts every Christmas, have a Thanksgiving dinner, and have all our family home for these holidays. The girls are given opportunities to give back and make people’s holidays that much more special, and give them experiences that would usually never happen. Below are all of the committees, their leaders, and many ways to get involved.
