On Tuesday May 19, 2026, hundreds of people in support of the Academy’s class of 2026 gathered in Morsani Hall of the Straz Center to engage in the commencement ceremony.

To start, Paige Wilson and Gabriela Cossi offered a thoughtful prayer. After, Salutatorian Alyssa Lyons delivered a speech that reflected the growth of the Class of 2026 and how they found their voice over the course of the four years.

Lyons spoke on the difference between the quiet freshman at the first pep rally and the seniors now preparing to graduate. “We became people no longer afraid to be truly seen,” she said. Her speech highlights the way the class learned on a personal level and grew into leaders.

Principal Jeane McNamara then announced that the 112 members of the AHN Class of 2026 have met all of the requirements to graduate high school in the state of Florida. Following this declaration, each senior walked the stage to receive her diploma and was presented with a pot of 12 roses from the Academy first graders.

Next, Student Council President Ali Ibañez leads the 112 girls in turning the tassels, officially marking the transition from students to high school graduates.

Valedictorian Adriana Lyons presents a speech focused around the uncertainty of the future and the importance of embracing it. “Tonight I leave seeing 112 sisters,” she said, really emphasizing the bonds formed throughout their time at the Academy.

By using the metaphor of needing contact lenses to see clearly, Lyons explained how high school gave her vision for the future. “Do not waste time regretting what you cannot change,“ said Lyons and closing her speech by reminding everyone to “Love fearlessly.”

School President Kevin Whitney gives closing remarks, looking back on the individuality of each graduate while also emphasizing the strength of the class overall. He gave a good speech about the most meaningful parts of the class of 2026. Recalling the image of their handprints left in the senior lounge as a reminder of each member of the class of 2026 with a unique story and identity.

Whitney says, “By itself, each handprint says I was here, and I was unique. Together on the same wall, it says ‘We are Here.” He encourages the girls to remain grounded in who they are and what they stand for as they go through life.
