At the Academy of the Holy Names energy drinks have become very popular and an every day necessity for some. The weeks keep getting busier, homework keeps piling up, and sports are getting more intense, and an energy drink provides that quick energy.
Madison Pfeuffer (26’) said, “I am not the biggest fan of most energy drinks. Orange Celsius is one of the only energy drinks that I actually like. I have started trying Alani for the first time, and I think I could start drinking them more often. I try to limit myself and hold off as long as I can, but sometimes it is needed.”
It is not uncommon to be walking in the halls and see a girl with an Alani or Celsius in hand. Some say it is part of their morning routine while some hold off as long as they can without caffeine. The popularity of these drinks have sparked comments on, “Which brand is the best?” or, “Which one is better for you?”
Josie Blashill (26’) said, “I love to have my energy drinks everyday. They give me the boost of energy I need in the morning!”

While some students argue that an energy drink is needed during their busy schedule, some think that the long-term effect outweighs the positives. Energy drinks lead to major problems within your body and bones.
Abby Smith (26’) said, “My favorite energy drink is pink slush Alani. I think energy drinks are very bad for you in general, but I need them frequently because of sports, school, and homework on top of that.”
Because of the health concern at the Academy of the Holy Names new drinks or ways to gather and maintain energy could be brought about. Focusing on the moderation aspect of this spike in the need and desire for energy drinks can be taken into place.

At the end, the students’ overall health and well-being is more important than anything. By examining the consumption of energy drinks, girls can make sure they are prioritizing their health before over-exertion.
