CMA Awards don’t disappoint true country fans

Any true country fan knows the importance and excitement of the Country Music Awards. Every year it is a huge event and people like myself look forward to watching their favorite country singers.

Hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley this year, the show consisted of numerous performances and congratulated singers for their accomplishments. The one and only Luke Bryan opened up the show with his new song, “That’s My Kind of Night.” His performance got everyone out of their seats and on their feet singing and dancing. Other performances included Jason Aldean, Zac Brown Band, Keith Urban, and Tim McGraw. One of the most memorable is Carrie Underwood’s medley of all the hits on her new album, Blown Away. She started off with “Good Girl” and finished with “See You Again.”

Miranda Lambert won her fourth Female Vocalist of the Year along with her husband, Blake Shelton, who won Album of the Year and Male Vocalist. “I really didn’t think this was going to happen this year,” Lambert said before thanking each of the other nominees. Florida Georgia Line also scored big on their awards. The new band won Single of the Year for their new hit song, “Cruise” and also performed their song “Round Here.”

Like any other music award show, Taylor Swift did very well, winning numerous awards. Most importantly, she was given the CMA’s Pinnacle Award. The award goes to artists who take country music to a worldwide audience. Garth Brooks is the only previous winner who won in 2005. Swift expresses her feelings, “You’ve made me feel so special right now, thank you.” In addition, she performed her hit song “Red” in an acoustic w with nothing other than her guitar.

The show ended with a wonderful performance by Darius Rucker, singing “Wagon Wheel.” The show showcased all of the incredibly talented country singers of our generation.
