“I’m really excited to be performing in the show, but sad it will be my last fall play. I hope all my sisters will come out and support the show!” says Emily Ulbritche Credit: Avery Dierks

The fall show this year hosted by Mrs. Vivian Kimbler is a split show. It will consist of different numbers and scenes from Steel Magnolias and High School Musical. There will be two showings of the show, November 13 and 14. Both shows are to be held at Academy in the Brady Center North. Tickets are only $5 if bought in advance, then $8 at the door. Anyone is open to attend the show showcasing Academy’s theatrical and musical talent and support the performers.

The cast of Steel Magnolias is made up of an ensemble of Advanced Acting students here at AHN. They are Sophomore, Sydney Beil in the role of Truvy; Junior, Sydney Sommer in the roe of Annelle; Senior Emilie Ulbricht in the role of Clairee; Sophomore Julia Azank in the role of Shelby; Senior Alejandra Lozano in the role of Ouiser; and freshman acting advanced guest, Robin-Sailor Zander as M’Lynn. As a freshman, Robin comment, “I was scared as first because I thought that they might not accept me, just because they’ve been in the class so much longer than I have. But they’re super nice and they help me out and accept me. There’s a lot to learn from them and I’m glad to have the experience.”  All experienced performers have been working hard to make the show its best.

Mrs. Kimbler said, “I chose this powerful play written by Robert Harling because the women in it are strong, courageous and loving. Each of these characters, not unlike the ladies that play them, are truly touching, funny and marvelously amiable company in good times and bad. I am extremely proud of these ladies and I look forward to watching each of them shine in this performance.”
