As the winter sports season comes to an end, AHN soccer, basketball, and dance teams have celebrated their senior nights. Soccer seniors Addy Brown, Chloe Carson, Megan Hyer, Devin Murphy, Megan Price, and Sylvia Velasco were celebrated on January 18. They won the game and went on to win the district championship. The team ended as FHSAA 4A Girls Soccer State Runner-Up. Basketball seniors Tegan Drinkwater, Grace Gavin, Morgan Hunt, and Lucy Morey celebrated their senior night on January 19. Their night was made even more special as Morey made a 3-point shot that allowed her to join Gavin and Hunt in the 1000 point club. Gavin, Hunt, and Morey are the 16th, 17th, and 18th members in Academy’s history to score 1000 points in their basketball career. Jaguarettes seniors Kathryn Burke, Avery Doyle, Reese Edlund, Olivia Payne, and Nina Wolff celebrated their senior night at a basketball game on January 23. The Jaguarettes showed off a hip hop dance to a medley of songs, including “Dinero” by J-Lo and “Rich Girl” by Gwen Stefani. On March 13, the winter sports team gathered at the Winter Sports Banquet. The teams enjoyed a meal together and listened to speeches from Burke, Drinkwater, and Murphy about their respective seasons. The each also had their own team meetings where they gave awards and heard from their coaches. The bittersweet night marked the final moments for the teams to be together before the seniors’ departure.
