Academy of the Holy Names prides themselves on providing for others. One of the main ways of providing during the school day is the lunch service, Sage Dining.
School lunches in general provide the students with energy to get through the day and to stay focused while doing their school work. Most schools lack nutritional values and protein rich foods, while Academy does incorporate both and works well on providing overall healthier options for the students than other schools do.
Liana Fernandez (28’) said, “I love Sage and I think it’s great because of its many options and allows me to not have to stress about packing a lunch. I know they now have breakfast but I am never at school early enough to have it. I think the meals are very well balanced although the fries and cookies are probably not the best for you but so tempting to get everyday and taste the best.”
Having a good lunch is beneficial to finish out the day strong. By having options of a salad, chicken, pasta, fruits, and more it helps the students stay active and alert as they finish the school day and go on to their extracurricular activities, homes, or jobs.

Madison Pfeuffer (26’) said, “One thing that I really love about Sage Dining is how sweet all of the workers are. They always have a smile on their faces and will do anything for you. Another thing that makes Sage so special is that they offer different foods everyday! I like to have a variety to choose from and Sage does just that!”
Sara-Beth Grande (26’) said, I love to get the mac and cheese from Sage, it’s so yummy. Something I do not like is how sometimes the fries can be soggy.”
A poll taken from Elizabeth Suskauer’s set 7 Nutrition class voted that overall Sage could be healthier. As they have been looking into nutrition, they said that Sage has many fried food options, which have a lot of fats which is not good for the body. 2 out of the 10 in the class said that it depends on what you decide to eat.
A healthier option from Sage would be the salad bar. With leafy greens, fresh vegetables, and other toppings you could eat a well rounded meal. An unhealthy option would be cookies and fries. Cookies and fries from Sage are one of the most popular. Everything in moderation is okay, but students should not live off cookies and fries.
