Mean Girls is predicted to be a major hit for the third time in a row after the original movie in 2004 and the Broadway show in 2018. Although the group of girls are all new actors, some of the OG cast will be returning to the screen. The storyline is supposed to be a new, trendier version of the classic story that is so well-known.

Production started in March of 2023 with a release date of January 12, 2024. The director of the new film, Tina Fey, is also the original director of the 2004 film and the musical. Along with others, she is making a came back as Ms. Norbury, a teacher at North Shore. Fey mentioned, “I think over the years I’ve realized that these characters and this story have had a much longer shelf life than anyone could have anticipated, and so to get to do something new with them, I think people will be surprised.”

As the release date draws closer, sneak peeks and teasers flood social media, giving fans a taste of the updated version of the classic story. Will the fashion be as fabulous as ever? Will iconic pink accessories make a bold comeback? Will the new group bring their A-game, delivering sharp wit and razor-sharp one-liners? I guess we’ll find out.
