Student Council members complete South Florida Leadership Training Camp

This summer, seven of Academy’s Student Council members spent a week at the South Florida Leadership Training Camp in Ft. Lauderdale. There, they received first-hand training on how to be effective leaders in their student government positions and around their school. Students spent time each day with their assigned groups completing discussions and participating in team building activities.

Maddie Cassidy, Mollie Snyder, Ammara Harrison, Madison Allen, Sarah Castillo, and Gini Barreda attended SFLTC which is for first year campers. Laura Castillo, a returning camper, attended the second year week-long sessions called Camp Eagle.

On Monday morning, these seven students were called into Mrs. Camille Jowanna’s office and presented with an award for completing this camp along with a slideshow to remember all of the fun times at SFLTC and Camp Eagle.

“I’m excited to watch the camp slideshow at home. I think about SFLTC all the time and I’m looking forward to going back next year”, said Junior Gini Barreda.

Our seven campers have nothing but good things to say about their experience at SFLTC and are hoping to receive the opportunity to return during the summer of 2013.
