The 2013 By the Bay Auction raised a record $342,732, including $182,330 in sponsorships, $78,749 in Live Auction items, $13,695 in AHN Favorites, $3,325 in the Second Chance Auction, $25,000 for Fund-an-Item for Technology, and $8,923 for Teacher Adventures.
More than 500 guests attended the Black and White themed By the Bay Auction on Saturday evening, March 2. For the first time in ten years, the auction took place off campus. The new scenery of the Grand Hyatt was a refreshing change for parents, alumni, and faculty, who annually attend the auction.
1,934 bids were electronically placed on more than 300 silent and live auction items using BidPal. All the funds benefitted the Annual Fund, which either directly or indirectly affects every student in the school.
Mrs. JoAnne Linkner, Director of Special Events and Annual Fund, looks to the annual auction as vital to raising money. “The Annual Fund supports everything from academics to athletics, technology to fine arts, and facilities to tuition.”
Many fabulous items were featured in the auction. Some included the chance to participate in an exclusive Tampa Bay Lightning Experience with a Zamboni ride and two tickets to the 2014 Superbowl, along with the traditional, beautiful grade-level baskets and projects. Front Row Seats to the High School Graduation was the most bid on item of the night. Other highlights of the exciting evening included a 12-piece band, a sold-out Wine Wall, a gourmet candy buffet, and the exciting Golden Ticket drawing.
