The Academy of the Holy Names has taken a major step forward in supporting student athletes’ health and success. By revealing a new two-story facility called The Murphy Health & Wellness Center. This will replace its current one-story, 5,000-square-foot athletic building with a 13,369-square-foot, two-story Health and Wellness Center that mixes modern design with space for training, nutrition, events and community use.
Designed to promote both physical and mental well-being, the Murphy Center reflects AHN’s commitment to helping students thrive inside and outside the classrooms.
Jay Kubiak, Director of Facilities, said, “It’s a very exciting project that we hope almost all grades will benefit from the added programming for students. School can be demanding and we wanted to provide a building that gives you a way to relieve that stress.”
The new building will have an over 2,000 sf community room that will be used as a study space after school as well as for large night time yoga classes and other programming AHN doesn’t currently have. There will also be a 3,000 square feet viewing deck on the second floor to watch the softball and soccer games, or just to study up there after school.
Gabby Lombardi (29’) said, “I’m so excited for it, I hope we can use it as a studying source as well as training for soccer.”

The first floor will include a larger fitness and weight room with two roll up garage doors that allow the circuit training to go inside to outside quickly. Updated equipment, a modern training room, dedicated locker rooms, a flex room for film review, new spectator restrooms, and an Athletic Commons for wellness programming.
The second floor will feature covered, open-air spectator areas that overlook both fields, two new press boxes, and a golf simulator and e-sports room.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be on January 20 with an anticipation completion date of October 2026.
Jackie Johnson (27’) said, “I can not wait for this new center. I’m so excited to finally have a new locker room for Lacrosse.”
