Soccer Senior Night brings 4-0 victory with three goals by senior Ashton Hill

Although the girls are sad that their season is coming to an end, the annual “Senior Night” was the perfect way for the AHN soccer team to celebrate their last home game. Before the 6:00 game against Canterbury on Thursday January 10, friends and family of the players gathered at Academy’s soccer field to honor senior team members Cara Millburg, Caroline Sutton, Amanda Schifino, Ashton Hill, and Caroline Dolan.

To cap off the evening, senior Ashton Hill, who had been sidelined earlier in the season, scored three goals of the four for the winning Jaguar team.

The senior recognition before the game showed how much this year’s seniors have supported their team.  Juniors Allie Reichert and Alana Adams read thoughtful speeches about how much they love and will miss the seniors.  “Our seniors are loyal, energetic, and hardworking role models. They really helped to make the team special and lead the girls in a great season.”

The seniors stood on the field with their families while listening to the speeches and receiving a rose and gift bags that their teammates had compiled. The younger players all expressed their gratitude and admiration towards the seniors.

The game score of 4-0 ended the Jaguar regular season with a 10-6 record. Now the team can focus on the quickly approaching district competition. The first game is on Tuesday, January 15, at Clearwater Central Catholic.

Junior Allie Reichert is excited by the prospect of advancing. “We have an awesome team this year, super talented and really tight knit. We ‘re all excited for districts and ready to put in 110%.”
