When club announcements were made this year, sophomore Gracie Hancock felt the need to spread joy throughout the school. She created her own club. Random Acts of Kindness was created to bring a new positive energy throughout AHN students and faculty. Ahn’s Achona Staff took the time to interview Gracie.
What made you want to start Random Acts of Kindness?
Ever since I was a little child, I’ve had an intuition to be kind. At school I observed that the students and faculty of the Academy of the Holy Names could use an extra dose of kindness, so I thought up Random Acts of Kindness club to bring a spoonful of kindness to Academy.
What are some impacts your club has made?

Most recently we handed out thank you cards to faculty members that we thought were under appreciated. Around February we put pick-me-up notes inside freshmen’s lockers. The thought behind it was the cards would make someone who maybe was having a bad day would make them smile. Another thing we did as a club was around mid-terms we put up inspirational posters.

Gracie plans to even do more service out of the school next year helping out charities such as Boys and Girls club just by giving her and her club members time and kindess. Freshman KarieAnn Buiser has recieved a note in her locker one day, which was coincidentaly a day when she was very stressed out for a history test. “It gave me a positive energy which I barely had any of in that moment” showing how easily it can be to help turn someones day around. We thank you Gracie for all of your Random Acts of Kindness!
